The Mohawk

My son has just walked in the door with a ridiculous-looking mohawk haircut. Although I had been given advance warning by my spouse, and had consequently FORBID my son to get a mohawk haircut he went right ahead and did it anyway. I am now completely and totally annoyed!! Why do boys think that things of this nature are amusing? Even though he had been told that he would look ridiculous, and that we have a trip planned in 3 days to visit a college whereupon all of those folks will see how ridiculous he looks, he went ahead and blatantly ignored me. Nothing infuriates me more than for me to waste valuable oxygen giving practical and useful instructions to my family members only to have them go right ahead and do the stupid thing they intended in the first place. There are times when I cherish being a mother, and then there are those other times...times when I want to walk about 50 feet away from my child and feign complete ignorance of their presence and certainly won't advertise that I birthed them! Good grief...well, blog-readers, that's it for now because I am too steamed to think of anything other than my son's oddly-shaped noggin. Perhaps tomorrow will bring more cheerful thoughts. Good night and God bless, in the immortal words of Red Skelton!
