The mighty Bruins did it! They did what most didn't think could be done - they beat the unbeaten Franklin Rebels last night, 24-21!! Hallelujah, what a night! Earlier this week, on Tuesday, God planted a thought in my mind randomly - it was "Believe and Achieve". So, I thought about it and sent out a call to arms to my football mom peeps with an idea that we should remind our boys that we believe in them. No matter what the pundits and experts and others might say, we know the heart and spirit and effort of these Brentwood Bruins. These boys work hard, they pray to God as their source of strength, and it just seemed to me that they needed to be reminded how much we all believe in them. Several of the moms got together Thursday night at the school's locker room and we made posters and hung streamers and put inspirational sayings in each boy's locker. Now, for those of you familiar with the male species, we weren't even sure if the boys would notice our efforts (!) but the hope was there that it would pump them up.
Friday night was a beautiful night for football. Great weather, electric atmosphere in the stands. Capacity crowd with folks standing all around the edge of the field because the stands on both sides were packed. And from first kick to final spike of the ball, the Bruin team played their hearts out! These boys never quit, even though they were trailing 21-17 until late in the 4th quarter. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a fabulous interception by none other than Cameron Mason totally turned around the momentum that Franklin had!! Yay Tata! We all went nuts and I just had a feeling that this was going to go our way. And in the end, Brentwood left victorious. We all had screamed, yelled, jumped and WILLED those boys to keep fighting, even when they were up against a wall and exhausted. What a completely overwhelming feeling came over me as we watched those final seconds tick down. For Cameron and the other seniors it had to be a moment they won't forget. BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE!!
The one downer to this great night was the scare that we had with Trevor, one of Cameron's teammates. During the celebration following the big win, Trevor collapsed and was hyperventilating. He got a trip to the hospital in an ambulance and of course we all were extremely worried. But, thank God, Trevor is out of danger and a CAT scan turned out well. Heal quickly Trevor - we need you back out on the field!
Enjoy each day that God gives you, dear blog-friends...He is gracious and good and loving and I am basking in His glory!!
