Hello Blog-readers (if there are any of you out there!),
It has been more than a week since I have had the time to sit down and do a brain dump on this site. It seems as though alot has happened, when in actuality it really hasn't. Nothing earth-shattering, anyway - just the normal work/church/chores/football games routine that seems to swallow me up in August and spit me out in December. Just in time for the craziness of Christmas!
One thing that did occur, though, was the passing of a film icon - Paul Newman passed from this life last Friday at the age of 83, another cancer victim. Yet even more than his films, this remarkable man will be remembered for his generosity and his incredibly significant charitable giving. I personally buy his Newman's Own products because I like to think that somewhere in America, a sick child might be having some fun because I made that purchase. And because Mr. Newman had the foresight to market his salad dressings, etc. and give all the proceeds away to charities. His coffee is tasty, his marinara sauce makes me smile, and his popcorn rivals the movie theater's! Try some of their products and help out a sick child - somewhere in heaven those beautiful blue eyes will be crinkled up in a big ol' smile! You will be missed, Paul Newman...
The Brentwood Bruins travel down to Franklin this Friday, to face an unbeaten Rebels team. Now, those "in the know" might say that Brentwood doesn't have a chance against a powerful Franklin offense and defense, but let me just say here that if heart and desire can win games this group of Bruins has got a legit shot. God has put the words BELIEVE and ACHIEVE on my mind for these boys this week, and if they can just believe in themselves we will be walking out of Franklin's stadium with a W. It is very bittersweet, and not just a little stressful, to watch these games each week. Knowing that each game brings us closer to the end of the season, and the end of a long stretch of football games in the Brentwood area. Cameron has played since he was 5 years old, and many of his current teammates have been together for quite a bit of that time. These Friday nights spent with friends are times that I will treasure always - we have made some phenomenal relationships with other parents and we all are watching our "babies" grow up into fine young men. Hard to think about future Fridays spent elsewhere other than watching the blue-and-gold lining up at BHS.
Well, it is awfully late for someone of Mimi age to be up using her brain, so for now dear friends I am signing off. More to come from the shadowy recesses of my brain in the next few days...
Enjoy this beautiful weather brought to you by the ultimate meteorologist - GOD!!
Mimi
